End Zone, L’Équipe’s NFL podcast: new generation quarterbacks

They are called Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen or Deshaun Watson. They are the quarterbacks of modern times, the ones who make the NFL today and defeat the traditional game. Able to pass, as always, but also to run and change tactical approaches, these young players never cease to surprise and mix genres and styles. Before, we believed certain facts for another position or, worse, unable to direct the tempo properly. These guys don’t care about prejudices and the established order: how has the quarterback job evolved?

All of them today have assimilated new technical, physical and mental data. Those that were called “double threat” in the past are now the norm, and it is the viewer who benefits. More heterogeneity in the NFL gives more ways to enjoy the game, but also more uncertainty for the opponent and more options for teammates. So how do these, as well as the defenses, adapt? And what is the impact of these wonders beyond the field?

Hosted and directed by Antoine Bourlon, with Peter Anderson and Anthony Mahoungou. Visual identity by Maxime Malécot.
