Eiduka’s “Tour de Ski” ranks 24th in ten kilometers of classic style skiing

The fastest ten kilometers were covered by Swan, who finished with 30 minutes and 9.09 seconds. She was 0.7 seconds ahead of Russian athlete Julia Stupak, but another 0.1 second was Jessia Digins from the United States.

Eiduka showed the 24th fastest time, losing one minute and 31.8 seconds. With such a large time reserve, Eiduka will start driving ten kilometers behind Svan on Sunday. For this performance, Eiduka earned 71.01 points from the International Ski Federation (FIS).

A total of 60 athletes took part in the ladies’ competition on Saturday, but one of them did not reach the finish line until three more went to the start.

Rozija Brenana from America leads the World Cup with 451 points, Tatiana Sorina from Russia follows with 388 points, while another Russian from Russia, Natalia Neprajeva, closes the top three with 340 points. Eiduka is in 31st place with 64 points, but in the U-23 test she is in the sixth position.

It has already been reported that Eiduka was ranked 15th in the freestyle 1.4-kilometer sprint on Friday, but was later the slowest of the six athletes in his skiing in the quarterfinals. Eiduka was later classified in heading 26.

Later, men, including Raimo Vīgants, also spent 15 kilometers of classic style skiing with a mass start.

The victory was won by last year’s overall winner Alexander Bolshunov from Russia, who finished in 34 minutes and 9.08 seconds. Swiss Dario Koloņa lost 23.5 seconds, but another Russian representative Ivan Yakimushkin took the lowest step on the podium, losing 25.3 seconds to his compatriot.

The Russian athletes Alexei Chervotkin and Yevgeny Belov, who were in the second and third positions a few tens of meters before the finish, did not divide the track in one of the last turns, as a result of which they fell, which allowed Kolon to move from the fourth position to the second. Fallen Cervotkin and Belov were seventh and ninth, respectively.

Vīgants lost four minutes and 18 seconds to the winner, which allowed him to take the 66th position among 77 athletes. This performance allowed the athlete to earn 176.21 FIS points.

The day before, Vigants was ranked 44th in the freestyle 1.4-kilometer sprint qualification.

Bolshunov leads the World Cup with 608 points, followed by Federico Pelegrino of Italy with 324 points, and the third place with 296 points is taken by Norwegian Juhanne Klebo, who does not start the tour. Vīgants is not found in the overall rating.

On Sunday, skiers will compete in equally long skiing in freestyle. Monday will be free, but on Tuesday there will be 10/15 kilometers of freestyle skiing in Toblah with an interval start, followed by driving on Wednesday.

Next, the skiers will go to Valdifjemmi, where after one day of rest on January 8, they will fight in the 10/16 kilometer distance in the classic style with a mass start. The next day there will be a sprint, but the tour will end on January 10, competing with a joint start in ten kilometers in freestyle, with much of the distance leading up to the mountain. In the last stage, the difference between the start and finish height will be 420 meters, but on the steepest slope you will have to ski against a 30% slope.

It has already been reported that Indulis Bikše, who started the “Tour de Ski” for the previous four years, is not participating in the prestigious tour this year.

For the third year in a row, Latvia is represented in the men’s and women’s competition. If the 20-year-old Eiduka has already started the tour twice, then for the 21-year-old Vīgants it is his debut

On the previous two occasions, Eiduka took part in the first three stages of the “Tour de Ski”, making only about half of the tour. In December, the skier did not rule out the possibility that he will take the whole tour this year.

This year’s “Tour de Ski” team does not participate in the titled Norwegian team, but two other national ski team teams – Finland and Sweden – have returned to the World Cup.

The “Tour de Ski” series is based on the example and principles of the legendary multi-day cycling tour “Tour de France”, entering the cross-country skiing circle at the turn of 2006/2007. It is part of the World Cup stages.

Last year, Bikše finished the tour in 49th place, while the laurels of victory were won by the Russian Alexander Bolshunov and the Norwegian Terēze Juheuga.
