“So I finally enjoyed it. It happened what everyone warned me about. The Dakar is just long and unpredictable,” said Enge, who is starting with Vlastimil Tošenovský with the Can-Am buggy in the “light” prototype category.

The Buggyra Zero Mileage Racing driver had problems from the beginning on Sunday. “We don’t know exactly where the problem is yet, but the car was only rear-wheeled from the start and probably because the rear axles were overheating, one cracked, then the other,” said Enge. Therefore, it was missing in the result list for a long time. “Thirty kilometers before the finish, we had to make a temporary repair, which ensured that we were here, and even with a big loss, we continue,” Enge said.

The 44-year-old driver, who did not complete any long-distance rallies before the Dakar, but does not lose his good mood. “It will be all the more fun now,” said Enge, who announced in advance that he mainly wants to gain experience this year. He will have the opportunity today, when the participants of the rally will have a 685 km long route from Biša to Vadí ad-Davásir, of which 457 km will be a special stage.

In the category of prototypes, Enge’s teammate Josef Macháček set the ninth time, but after an additional penalty he dropped to partial and overall 14th place. But there is a third among light prototypes.

The section full of stones passed without major problems. “We were in a bit of a hurry in the morning, because we still had to solve the cuff problem at the crossing. Then came the trouble with refueling, so we started in the special a little later, but it did not affect the final time. There was a lot of rocks and dust. But I’m glad that I got among the fast riders and we will do well on Monday. I can’t keep up with the results, but we are doing well, “said Macháček.
