Sunday 17 January 2021 – 07:10 AM

The Spanish Carolina Marín, current Olympic champion, won the Thai Badminton Open this Sunday, after beating the first favorite, Taiwanese Tai Tzu-ying, in the final.

Marín beat his rival in 42 minutes, in two sets (21-9, 21-16).

The Andalusian player thus launched a warning about her chances of fighting to revalidate the Olympic crown, after overcoming a serious knee injury.

Carolina Marín (27 years old) has this year as a great mission not only the Tokyo Olympic Games but also the World Cup, where in the past she achieved three golds and which in 2021 is scheduled in Huelva (southern Spain), her hometown.

The Thailand Open is the first of three consecutive tournaments to be held in Bangkok, culminating in the World Tour Finals on January 27.
