Carlos Ortiz, with a firm step in San Diego


On a day with very difficult conditions such as wind, rain, hail and with almost an hour of suspension due to the storm, the second round of the Farmers Insurance Open was held in Torrey Pines, San Diego, where Carlos Ortiz from Guadalajara took advantage which saw activity in the North field, the easier of the two, to record one of the few perfect runs despite the weather. With four birdies and the rest even, Ortiz signed a card for 68 strokes, four below par. After this result, “Charly” reached a cumulative -4 and jumped 67 places to be tied for 21st with three hits from the Top-10.

Similarly, the new leader of the event, the Norwegian Viktor Hovland, had a spectacular day of eight birdies and a single bogey for a second day of 65 strokes, seven below par. Showing a dominant game, the champion of the last edition of the Mayakoba Golf Classic will start the weekend with the minimum advantage over a group of six players.
