BOLASPORT.COM – The mixed doubles pair, Hafiz Faizal / Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, have to bite their fingers after being eliminated from the group phase of the 2020 BWF World Tour Finals.

Hafiz Faizal / Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja were eliminated from the 2020 BWF World Tour Finals after being defeated in a life-and-death match with Goh Soon Huat / Lai Shevon Jamie (Malaysia).

The match which took place at Impact Arena, Bangkok, Thailand, Friday (29/1/2021), ended in a 21-17, 13-21, 13-21 defeat for Hafiz Faizal / Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.

This defeat made Hafiz / Gloria fail to secure one place remaining in Group B to qualify for the semifinals of the 2020 BWF World Tour Finals.

The course of the match

Hafiz / Gloria performed nicely in the first game. They were able to suppress Goh / Lai to create a big advantage.

Missed the opening points, Hafiz / Faizal responded by winning six consecutive points to turn 6-1 ahead.

Hafiz / Gloria appear more solid. Gloria was able to win several duels in front of the net several times, while Hafiz gave support from the back area.

Some of Goh / Lai’s points were also obtained from Gloria / Hafiz’s mistakes. Fortunately, the Indonesian pair were able to maintain their advantage until the score 11-7 closed the first interval.
