Buddy van Dries Mertens can eat independently again 10 years after paralysis | Foreign football

Mihai Nesu was a teammate of Dries Mertens near Utrecht ten years ago when fate added to training. He came down badly in an innocent duel and broke a neck vertebra, which left him paralyzed.

Almost a decade after the dramatic event, there is now good news for Nesu as video images show him eating independently, the result of years of rehabilitation.

The images will undoubtedly also please Dries Mertens, because the Red Devil built up a close relationship with Nesu after the incident. Mertens has repeatedly put money into the Mihai Nesu Foundation, which works for children in need. In 2017 he also went to visit Nesu in Romania.
