Borussia Dortmund: BVB is facing an uncomfortable fundamental question

Borussia Dortmund’s latest failure caught the critics. “The performance was without discipline, heartless and characterless,” said Dietmar Hamann and downright destroyed the team. The “basics” were missing, said the ex-national player on Sky – while BVB coach Edin Terzic was already connected from inside the stadium and heard every word.

Hamann’s criticism was essentially true, but he formulated it provocatively and polemically. Former Dortmund coaches such as Jürgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel or even the reticent Lucien Favre would probably have vigorously objected, even if they would have believed that Hamann was right. Terzic, however, agreed. “Quality is always the result of talent and mentality. We relied too much on talent and defended too little when something didn’t work, ”he said. He thus joined the ranks of his players who could describe the dilemma, but did not come any closer to solving the problems.
