What a highlight for the NBA fans: on January 28th they were able to watch a basketball game between Miami-Heat and the LA Clippers live for the first time in the American Airlines Arena in Miami. Even if “only” 10 percent of the hall’s capacity was allowed – 2,000 people – it was finally possible to indulge in indoor sports again. Thanks to the trained corona dogs, visitors were tested for the virus in seconds.
The Miami-Heat is the first NBA team that, like before at airports, has given the sniffers the virus screening. “Dogs are the most efficient mobile detection system,” explains Michael Larkin, vice president of the Global K9 Protection Group, which manages the dogs, to the CNA. When a dog spotted an infected person in line, it would simply sit down next to it and wait for the handler. The person concerned then had to leave the building immediately and their entrance ticket was replaced.
