Basketball: Brose Bamberg signs Shevon Thompson

One day after the 82:90 defeat by Rasta Vechta, bottom of the table, Brose Bamberg announced a new signing. As the basketball Bundesliga team announced, Shevon Thompson will be given a contract until the end of the season.

Brose Bamberg’s new addition has already played for Alba

The 27-year-old born Jamaican is moving from the Spanish first division club Urbas Fuenlabrada to Upper Franconia. In the fall of last year, Thompson signed a four-week trial contract with Alba Berlin, which, however, had not been extended. After Devon Hall, Thompson is the second player that Bamberg has signed this season.

Shevon Thompson “can protect the ring”

Thompson is a player who can protect the ring on both sides of the field, according to Bamberg’s trainer Johan Roijakkers, who recently caused a sensation with harsh criticism of Bamberg’s player Kenneth Ogbe. The Brose coach believes that the new signing Thompson will give the team further international experience that he has gained in the Champions League. Among other things, Thompson had been on the international stage in the jersey of the Belgian representative Basketball Club Oostende.

First professional basketball contract in the USA

In 2016, Thompson signed his first professional contract in the US with the Erie BayHawks, now called Lakeland Magic. In summer 2018, the 2.13 meter center moved to Europe for the first time and signed with the Turkish first division club Istanbul BB. Most recently, Thompson played eleven games for the Urbas Fuenlabrada club, which is located 20 kilometers south of Madrid.
