Apologies from Justin Thomas

Golfer Justin Thomas has apologized for slipping a homophobic slur after he missed a shot on Saturday in the third round of the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

“It’s inexcusable. First, I just want to apologize, said the 27-year-old American. There is nothing that can excuse my gesture. I am an adult and there was absolutely no reason for me to say this. It’s horrible. I am extremely embarrassed. This is not who I am. Unfortunately, I did and I have to admit it. I am really sorry.”

Thomas made the misstep following a five-foot putt that he failed on the fourth hole of the course located in Hawaii.

The golfer’s comment was heard by Golf Channel subscribers and created a little shockwave on social media.

“I have to be better and it’s definitely a formative experience,” added Thomas. I sincerely apologize to anyone I have offended and I will be better for it. ”

For its part, the PGA Tour has indicated that the act of its athlete was unacceptable and that he will receive a fine.
