Against Arminia Bielefeld – Monday game for Flick-Elf

FC Bayern is the big workhorse of the Bundesliga. That’s why the record champions get kick-off times more often on Saturday evening. But due to the tight schedule, there will soon be a premiere.

Champions League winner Bayern Munich gets some air in the Bundesliga for his hunt for the title at the Club World Cup. As the DFL announced on Thursday, the team of coach Hansi Flick will open the 20th Bundesliga matchday with a Friday evening game on February 5th at Hertha BSC.

After the tournament in Qatar, Munich will end the 21st matchday with a Monday game against Arminia Bielefeld on February 15th. This is a premiere for FC Bayern. Because since the reintroduction of Monday games in the 2017/18 season, the record champions have not played a game on Monday. The last time Bayern played in the Bundesliga was on a Monday in 1993.

At the Club World Cup, FC Bayern will intervene in the semi-finals on February 8, the final and the game for third place will take place three days later on February 11. The tournament was actually planned for last December, but the world association Fifa had postponed it due to the corona pandemic.
