After fire in Kladower Heim: Five Corona-positive residents come to an emergency care facility – Police & Justice – Berlin

After a fire in a nursing home in Berlin-Kladow with one dead and 16 injured, the police are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire. “The crime scene and search for clues is not yet fully completed,” said a spokesman on Wednesday morning.

According to the officials, the identity of the death victim has not yet been established beyond doubt. The missing persons office of the State Criminal Police Office responsible for unknown dead is determined. According to a fire department spokesman, the body of the deceased was “completely charred”.

According to the police and fire brigade, the fire in the facility of the Vivantes clinic group in Lanzendorfer Weg was reported on Tuesday evening around 5.15 p.m. Accordingly, the room of a resident on the first floor was completely on fire. The fire brigade moved in with a large number. Around 180 forces were in action, said a spokesman.

Nursing staff helped the 31 residents. Thick smoke made it difficult for the old and mobility-impaired residents to get out of the building. The nursing staff behaved “very courageously”. The fire could be extinguished quickly, the fire department said in the evening.

As the police announced on Wednesday, the dead person found in the room is a man. According to the police, three nursing home residents suffered serious injuries, a fire department spokesman said on Tuesday that one of them had to be resuscitated.

Twelve other residents and one carer were slightly injured. They were taken to hospitals. On Tuesday evening it was said that the nurse had also been seriously injured.

According to the fire brigade, around 15 people were cared for by an emergency chaplain after the shock.
