LeBron James has held the record for the longest series of matches with at least 10 points for a while. In 2018 he outperformed Michael Jordan with 867 and last night – on his 36th birthday – he reached the milestone of 1,000.
Against the San Antonio Spurs, James was good for 26 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. The LA Lakers won 121-107. It has been since 2007 that LeBron James failed to score at least 10 points in a match. Then he got stuck against Milwaukee on 8 points.
Becky Hammon is 1st woman to coach NBA match
Last night’s duel between the Lakers and Spurs made some more history. After the exclusion of San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich, his assistant Becky Hammon did the honors. With that, Hammon became the 1st woman to coach an NBA team during a league match.
“I try not to think too much about what this means,” Hammon said afterwards. “During the match I just focused on my job. And of course I would have preferred to leave the field with a win.”
Hammon, 43, has served as an assistant coach at Spurs since 2014. As a player, she made beautiful weather in the WNBA for 16 seasons.
Lakers coach Frank Vogel also praised Hammon. “I have spoken to her before and she knows what she is doing. Becky understands the game, is very intelligent and has not stolen her place in the NBA. Everyone has a lot of respect for her. She will definitely be a top coach,” he said. Bird.
