“I feel very honored that representatives of several Werder fan groups that have joined forces have approached me and asked me to run for the supervisory board,” said Wontorra, who has the support required by at least 50 members has already received.
With him and the “group of concerned club members”, which include the former Werder managers Klaus-Dieter Fischer, Willi Lemke and Manfred Müller, the four-time German champions should change course. “Werder Bremen was once the second best club in Germany. Now we only belong in the Mainz, Augsburg or Freiburg categories. You shouldn’t be satisfied with that, ”complained Wontorra.
