Washington Football Team vs Pittsburgh Steelers prediction, preview and odds

Pittsburgh will try to remain undefeated when it hosts Washington on Monday night. The Steelers barely sneaked past a COVID-19 riddled Baltimore team in a rare NFL game on Wednesday. Washington knocked Dallas down the street in a matchup on Thanksgiving Day.

Washington is fighting for the NFC East Crown

Washington wasn’t expected to be a contender for the NFC East this season. He opened the year with a 100/1 chance of winning the division. A mix of poor play and injuries among the other teams meant that Washington was spot on at the start of the final stages of the season. The football team has taken back-to-back blowout wins against Cincinnati and Dallas to improve to 4-7. They opened the season with a 5-1 record but have come back with three wins in their last five games. Washington is now tied to New York at the top of the NFC East rating.

Veteran Alex Smith has returned from a brutal injury and has taken on Dwayne Haskins Jr. as a starter. Smith completed 69 percent of his passes for 1,067 yards. He doesn’t have a good 3 to 5 touchdown to interception ratio, but he did improve the team’s morale. Antonio Gibson leads the team back with 139 runs for 645 yards and 11 touchdowns. Terry McLaurin was by far the best recipient with 69 passes for 963 yards and three points. JD McKissic has 223 rushing yards and is the second largest receiver at 338 yards.

Steelers remain undefeated

Pittsburgh won’t have much time to enjoy their 11-0 record with just a four-day break in this game. The Steelers were originally supposed to play on Thanksgiving Eve, but the game has been postponed until the following Wednesday due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the Ravens organization. Pittsburgh moved from a 4-point favorite to a 10.5-point favorite due to a lack of Baltimore starters, but the Ravens got hold of there and turned it into a game. Pittsburgh’s offense is below average in yards per game but managed to score 28.8 per competition.

Veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger completed 67.5 percent of his passes for 2,800 yards. He has one of the best touchdown-to-interception ratios in the league at 25 to 6. James Connor leads the team with 145 runs for 645 yards and five touchdowns. The trio of Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson and Juju Smith-Schuster were outstanding at Wide Receiver. Claypool, a rookie, leads the team with 611 yards and eight touchdowns at 45 receptions. Johnson added 57 catches for 583 yards and Smith-Schuster added 66 catches for 572 yards. Tight end Eric Ebron caught 42 passes for 413 yards. Pittsburgh’s linebacker Bud Dupree is out with a ripped ACL.
