Vendée Globe: The Cam recovers Escoffier safe and sound – Info wire – Vendée Globe

The solidarity of the sailors will have worked once again. Jean le Cam (Yes We Cam) has just recovered Kevin Escoffier, who had triggered his distress beacon on Monday at 2:46 p.m., his PRB taking water while he was in the forties of the South Atlantic, in third position, in rough seas (4 meters deep). Arrived in the area around 5 p.m., the oldest of the race saw the sailor from Saint-Malo in his liferaft and lowered his engine to retrieve it. After losing sight of it and waiting several hours, he was finally able to hoist it on board and save it at 2:06 am. King John was himself picked up by a PRB boat and his then skipper, Vincent Riou, during the 2008-2009 Vendée Globe off the Chilean coast.
