Pochettino is traded as the successor

On Christmas Eve, several German and French media had reported from Tuchel’s out in Paris. The Argentine Mauricio Pochettino is being discussed as his successor, but there was initially no official confirmation. The 48-year-old was once a professional for the Paris club and most recently coached Tottenham Hotspur.

Tuchel had taken over the Parisian star ensemble around Neymar in summer 2018, his contract ran until summer 2021. For Paris, things are currently going better internationally than nationally

PSG are currently third in the league, one point behind Olympique Lyon and OSC Lille. In the Champions League, the finalist from the previous season made it into the round of 16 as group winners before RB Leipzig, where they will meet FC Barcelona.

The French world champion Kylian Mbappé had already thanked Tuchel on Christmas Eve and thus before the PSG announcement in an Instagram story. “Unfortunately, that’s the law of football. But nobody will forget your term of office here,” wrote the 22-year-old striker. “You wrote a beautiful chapter in the club’s history and I would like to thank you, Coach.”
