“This team was no better than us”

When Marcus Morris thinks the Clippers extend their 3-1 lead over the Denver Nuggets, it still stings.

The main reason it hurts against Morris to lose to the Nuggets is because he really believes the Clippers were the better team. The saying goes “the better team wins,” but Morris is certainly not alone in this feeling among the Clippers.

This will likely serve as bulletin board material for the nuggets when the teams meet again on Christmas Day.

Morris also said “the guys are very motivated to come back,” and Ivica Zubac also mentioned during Media Week that the team are using the defeat to remain determined to bounce back this season. The Clippers seem to appreciate when they look back on how they failed instead of moving on without addressing the issues exposed in the breakdown. The team didn’t have any urgency last season and that’s the biggest thing that needs to change.

The time for conversation is over for the Clippers. All they have to do is conduct their business all year round. That’s what the Lakers did last season, and that’s what the Clippers seem to be doing this year: stay motivated, stay angry, and remember what happened last season.

“Get up and lose, it added to our mentality and now we have something to prove,” said Morris. “I think for the team, I think this will be big for us.”
