This is how the NBA starts the new season

The NBA has published further details on the end of the new season, which will start in December.

Among other things, the strongest basketball league in the world has now announced the first half of the schedule, which has been shortened to 72 games per team due to the corona pandemic, up to a so-called all-star break at the beginning of March. The second half should only be published shortly before this break in order to be able to react as flexibly as possible to the corona events, it said in a message.

In addition, there will be some changes in the organization of the game: Each team should compete four times in mini-series in a city against the same opponent in the first half of the season alone in order to reduce travel.

The Toronto Raptors, the only Canadian team in the NBA, will initially play their home games in Tampa, Florida. It is not yet clear whether an event will also take place during the All-Star break. The Indianapolis all-star game and weekend originally scheduled for February has been postponed to 2024.

At the weekend, the league also sent a 154-page memo with health and safety requirements to all teams. In it, the NBA announces, among other things, unannounced controls of the training grounds and penalties, including the loss of draft picks and games.

The season starts on December 22nd with the city duel between the Los Angeles Clippers and champions Los Angeles Lakers as the highlight of the first evening.
