The Semmering giant finally canceled because of the wind – Fil Info

Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup giant Semmering, whose first round was contested in the morning, has been canceled due to the wind blowing over the Austrian resort, the International Ski Federation said on Monday. While the Slovakian Petra Vlhova had set the best time of the first heat, the wind ended up getting the better of the race. After shortening the course and then postponing the start of the second heat by 30 minutes, the race was finally canceled, when barriers in the finish area were blown away by the gusts. FIS has not declared a winner and has yet to say whether Round 2 will be contested on Tuesday or whether the race will be moved to another day. A slalom is scheduled for Tuesday in the Austrian resort.
