The Puerto Rican Adriana Díaz scores an important victory in the Chinese Super League

The Puerto Rican Adriana Díaz and the team in which the Puerto Rican is participating in her debut in the Chinese Table Tennis Super League, obtained on Tuesday their second victory in the round robin phase of the contest, which will be played until December 26 before to move on to the next stage.

The ITTF World Professionals, Diaz’s team, beat Shanxi Datuhe.

Díaz got one of the winning points with his victory in singles over Che Xiaoxi, 3-1, according to the Puerto Rican Table Tennis Federation on its official Facebook page.

Che Xiaoxi came from defeating Ding Ning on the first day, who was a gold medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where Adriana made her debut as an Olympian. Ding Ning has also been world champion and number one in the ITTF ranking on multiple occasions, according to the FPTM.

The other points of the Puerto Rican team, the ITTF World Professionals, came from the doubles between Doo Hoi Kem / Jeon Jihee and Wang Xiaotong / Mu Jingyu, and the other singles match, in which Jeon Jihee beat Wang 3-1 Xiaotong.

With this victory, the ITTF team gets its second victory, and is now 2-1 in the round robin phase. There are still five teams to face.

The action of the tournament, which takes place in Guangzhou, will continue until December 29. In the competition, nine men’s and nine women’s teams will compete in a two-phase format. In the first stage from December 21 to 26, the ensembles compete in a round robin. The four best teams qualify for the knockout stage between 27 and 29 to fight for the title.
