Sanity prevailed and the Competition Committee of the Spanish Handball Federation considers that the decision of the Gijón Handball players not to play last Sunday the match that faced Oviedo Handball, a team in which less than 24 hours before had been detected a positive, it is not punishable and asks both clubs to agree on a new date to play the match, which must be before the start of the second round, on January 16.

The Competition Committee defines the match not as “suspended for failure to appear” but as “not held” when considering, once all the documentation provided by both clubs has been seen, as “just cause” the non-dispute of the match. Both for Oviedo Handball and Gijón Handball they showed their satisfaction with the federation decision since both clubs were what they had requested from the beginning.
