Texas Prep Football Player Body Slams Referee After Ejection

EDINBURG, Texas – A Texas high school football player stormed the field and threw himself over a referee Thursday night because he was furious after being knocked out of the game.

Edinburg High School senior defender Emmanuel Duron came running from the side area after the referee announced the ejection and hit the official in the first half of the zone game against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo.

Duron was led out of the stadium by police officers.

McAllen’s monitor reported that the referee was being examined for a concussion by medical staff at the stadium.

The game resumed after a delay, with Edinburgh winning 35-21 to advance to the playoffs.

Duron was the district’s 31-6A Defensive Player of the year last season. He is also the kicker and punter of the Bobcats and a star wrestler.
