Tennis.-Federer signs up to play the Australian Open

The Swiss tennis player Roger Federer, who has not played an official match for almost a year, has signed up to play the Australian Open, the first ‘Grand Slam’ of the next season that will be held between February 8 and 21 at Melbourne Park .

The tournament made the list of top seeds official this Thursday and it includes Federer in fifth position behind Novak Djokovic (1), Rafa Nadal (2), Dominic Thiem (3) and Daniil Medvedev (4). In the female category, the main applicants are Ashleigh Barty (1), Simona Halep (2), Naomi Osaka (3), Sofia Kenin (4) and Elina Svitolina (5).
