Quique Setién was the first to pay the price after Barça’s historic defeat against Bayern (2-8) in the Champions League quarter-finals. Dismissed from his duties and replaced by Ronald Koeman, the Spanish coach disputes the way his ouster unfolded.
Setién: “Not even called to tell me I was fired”
Guest of the program “El Partizado” on Cadena Cope radio this Monday, the 62-year-old technician delivered his truth about the conditions of his departure and in particular on the legal procedure which opposes him to the Blaugrana club. In the absence of an amicable agreement to terminate his contract, Quique Setién hopes to receive compensation equivalent to the salary he should have received until June 2021.
“Barça did not compensate me and did not offer me anything, dropped the former coach of Betis Sevilla. They did not even call me to tell me that I was fired.”

Unlike Quique Setién, Barça managed to reach an agreement to break the contracts of his three former assistants Eder Sarabia, Fran Soto and Jon Pascua. Employees of the Catalan club until the beginning of November, the three coaches finally accepted the offer made by the Barcelona management.
Quique Setién, he intends to bring the case to justice unless he obtains a nice compensation. This file constitutes a new thorn in the side of Barça with a little less than two months of the presidential elections, on January 24, 2021. On the sporting level, the successor of the Spanish coach has still not found the right formula and the partners of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann occupy a disappointing seventh place in La Liga.
