Saint-Paul-Cap-de-Joux. Young sporting hopes of Tarn: Lalie Sandral, a young table tennis player “very promising”

At the hope center of CP Auch since the start of the 2020 school year, Lalie is 11 years old and is one of the most promising potentials in the Occitanie League. Lalie started table tennis at the age of 7, she was part of a group of majorettes and had never practiced racket sport except with her family, it is at her request that her parents made her try this sport: “I discovered table tennis during a camping holiday, I liked it”. She therefore joined the baby-ping section of Ping Saint-Paulais after a successful test when the club returned to table tennis.

In barely two months, she took a liking to this sport, developed good skills and joined the group of “big”. So she begins the learning and development training sessions. She wastes no time and even took part in her first competition and it was a success: she finished 4th in the “Ping Challenge”, a competition which brings together all the Tarn players who are just starting out. During her first year, she also participated in her first national level competition and achieved numerous podiums in departmental and regional events.

At the hope pole of Auch

The following year, she therefore moved up a gear with two training sessions per week, these results progressed and the following year, she invited herself to the national level on the individual criterium and did not make up the figures: she did many podiums and even obtained the victory in March 2019 in Auch. Example of regularity, it is no longer descended to the lower level and now has 12 consecutive laps at this level.

These results allow her to be part of the departmental selections for inter-committees and even regional: she participates in the Interligues with the Occitan delegation in 2018 in Ceyrat then in the French Regional Championships last February in Auch. Thanks to her individual results, she even manages to qualify twice for the French Championships in her age category.

At the start of the 2020 school year, she did not hesitate to join the hope center in Auch. She now trains two hours a day with her training teammates and spends her weeks in Auch staying with one of them. It benefits from the expertise of the head of pole Bruno Carvalho as well as that of the coach and player of the Auscitain club: Xu Ji-Peng, numbered 180 nationally in the FFTT ranking. A chance which allows him to nurture great ambitions: “My objectives are to increase my ranking, win the individual criterium in N2 in order to be able to move up to N1, to progress physically and to win as many competitions as possible”.

Today, she continues to train diligently and hopes to be able to resume competition as soon as possible to make up for lost time.
