Romanian Sports Minister “strongly” condemns fourth ref after PSG-Basaksehir incident | Champions League

Romanian fourth official Sebastian Coltescu is said to have made a racist remark about Pierre Webo, assistant coach at Basaksehir. After consultation, both teams eventually stepped off the field.

Romanian Sport Minister Ionut Stroe now “strongly condemns any statements that could be interpreted as racist, xenophobic or discriminatory”.

“I apologize in the name of Romanian sport for this unfortunate incident, in which we do not agree,” said Stroe. The Romanian Football Association (FRF) distances itself in a press release “from any action or statement with racist or xenophobic connotation”.

The FRF is still awaiting UEFA’s report on the incident “in order to know exactly what happened and to take action accordingly”.
