This Thursday the awards ceremony was held The Best from FIFA in a virtual event that took place at the headquarters of the World Soccer Motherhouse in Zurich, Switzerland. The gala was hosted by the legend Ruud Gullit and the journalist Reshwin Chowdhury.
Among the six main awards, the one for the best player was awarded to Robert Lewandowski, who was ternado next to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. As for best technical director, Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool, prevailed over the Argentine Marcelo bielsa and his compatriot Hans-Dieter Flick. While Manuel Neuer was imposed on Jan Oblak and Alisson Becker and he got the award for the best goalkeeper.
In the female category, the English Lucy Bronze who this year defended the Olympique Lyonnais and Manchester City shirts was the winner of The Best over the Danish Pernille Harder and the french Wendie Renard.
The jury also delivered the famous Premio Puskás for the best goal of the year, this time for the Korean Son Heung-min, for his conquest before the Burnley with the shirt of Tottenham. In turn, the FIFA designates the 11 Ideal of the season and, more anecdotally, a fair-play award and a prize for fans valuing “an exceptional gesture or moment” after the users vote.
The laureates were appointed through the vote of the captains and national selectors, a group of more than 200 journalists, as well as fans who voted online between November 25 and December 9. For the individual awards (male or female) for best soccer player, goalkeeper and coach, each of the groups of voters represents a quarter of the total count.
From the initial rosters of 11 players and 11 players pre-selected by FIFA, the voting system allowed each voter to choose their three favorites for each category and in descending order in the distribution of points.
