A municipality focused on the disabled
With a municipal advisory council for people with disabilities for over a year, the municipality of Chaumont-Gistoux continues its missions of support and integration of people with disabilities.
Thus, in mid-October, the first stone of six inclusive housing units, in the heart of Chaumont-Gistoux, was laid. People with mild to moderate mental disabilities will be able to move into a fully equipped studio, in less than a year, and live fully independently. Priority being given to the inhabitants of Chaumont-Gistoux.
These adults will be supported in their autonomy by specialized people and by the CPAS, partner and initiator of the project, via a subsidy of € 250,000. Its president, Natacha Verstraeten, has also sealed a partnership with the Portray Foundation, which has become the bearer of the project.
This is the third inclusive, solidarity-based housing to materialize for this foundation, the first having emerged from the ground in Court-Saint-Étienne in 2016.
