Quincy Promes is training again with Ajax | Football

The attacker, who was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of being involved in a stabbing, had conversations with trainer Erik ten Hag and directors Edwin van der Sar and Marc Overmars. Promes may be part of the Ajax selection again on Sunday for the competition match against ADO Den Haag.

The 47-time international of Orange was released on Tuesday. According to the Public Prosecution Service, there are no grounds to extend Promes’s custody. The football player remains a suspect in the case.

Promes was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of involvement in a stabbing, which took place in a shed in Abcoude in July. A family member of the football player suffered, among other things, very serious knee injuries. The suspicion against Promes is “assault resulting in serious physical injury.” This carries a maximum of four years in prison.

Denial

The Amsterdammer denies that he has stabbed anyone. Promes also told this on Wednesday in a telephone conversation with Ten Hag. “He denied any involvement. In the Netherlands you are innocent until proven otherwise ”, according to the Ajax trainer. “We support him, that’s the whole dressing room in it. We make sure we are there for him, but he also has to cross the line himself. You are always a football player, even when you are outside the gates of Ajax. We will have that conversation with him. ”

Without Promes, Ajax won the cup match against FC Utrecht on Wednesday with 5-4. The Ten Hag team is the leader in the Eredivisie and plays away games against ADO and Willem II before the winter break.
