PSG: Zoumana Camara remains, the medical staff too

Zoumana Camara will stay at Paris Saint-Germain. The former assistant to Thomas Tuchel, in particular in charge of set pieces, will be one of the few staff members not to leave the club after the official dismissal of the German coach on Tuesday. As indicated by lequipe.fr, the 41-year-old former central defender is expected to join Mauricio Pochettino’s technical team. But this new mission still requires the validation of the Argentine coach supposed to land in the capital with at least three or even four assistants.

The future PSG coach, who is due to arrive in Paris at the end of the week, will certainly say more after signing his contract. Since retiring from the field in 2015, Zoumana Camara, 41, has successively served as deputy to Laurent Blanc, Unai Emery and Thomas Tuchel with whom the relationship was harmonious. “Papus” of his nickname should not be the only one to stay put.

The medical staff which had undergone an overhaul last summer is also supposed to continue its activities at PSG. The coordinating doctor Cristiano Eirale should continue to occupy his functions, like the doctor Christophe Baudot in charge of the first team. Unlike Zoumana Camara, the medical sector had a not always very fluid relationship with former coach Thomas Tuchel.
