PGA: Justin Thomas dominates 3rd round while Emiliano Grillo retains lead

PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico – Justin Thomas flew over the third round of the Mayakoba Classic and is now at 5e rank thanks to an impressive round of 62 on Saturday. 33e early in the round, Thomas had climbed to just four strokes behind the leader thanks to the nine strokes he cut off par.

Thomas can therefore hope to sign his first victory since the FedEx St. Jude Invitation last August. He did not commit any bogey during the 3e round.

The American is not the only one to have had great success on Saturday. Viktor Hovland and Adam Long both handed in cards of 63, taking the 3 respectivelye and 4e rang.

Emiliano Grillo, he retained the tournament lead with a round of 68. His comfortable four-stroke lead, however, quickly faded to just one stroke. Grillo will be looking for a first victory since 2016, when he won the Frys.com Open, which is still his only victory over the PGA to date.

Tom Hoge retained his second place with a -6 round. In the case of Tony Finau, who was also at 2e both at the dawn of the round, he had a quieter round with a score of 69, which places him at 7e rang.

The only Canadian still in contention, Corey Connors handed a -3 card, which allows him to point to 20e row with 18 holes to play.
