Olivier Deschacht after “first” winning goal: “I kept running, but had to stop” | Jupiler Pro League

Olivier Deschacht (39) took the 2-3 in the 84th minute against Eupen yesterday. Essevee had therefore completely erased the 2-0 deficit and Deschacht was delighted to keep it.

“I was held firmly at every corner, but I was able to break free once. And there was the winning goal, for the first time in my career,” smiled the experienced defender after the match.

“I am always away when I score a goal. I wanted to grab someone, but that is not allowed anymore. Then you keep walking on the field, but at some point you have to stop.”

His coach Francky Dury also had to limit the joy a bit. “The relief is unbelievable. This was my most difficult moment of 2020. I wanted to hug everyone at the same time, but I was not allowed. We have never been so satisfied this year.”
