OHIO STATE AHEAD OF THE BIG TEN FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

The decision was made by the Board of Directors of the Big Ten Conference and was made in collaboration with the Big Ten Presidents and Chancellors and the Big Ten Conference

The Big Ten Conference Administrators Council, which includes the Directors of Athletics and Senior Women Administrators from all 14 member institutions, decided today to remove the minimum gaming requirements to participate in the 2020 Big Ten Football Championship game. The decision was made in collaboration with the Big Ten Council of Presidents and Chancellors and the conference bureau.

The decision was based on a competitive analysis that found that the state of Ohio would have advanced to the Big Ten Football Championship Game regardless of a win or loss to Michigan because of its unbeaten record and direct victory over Indiana.

As a result of the decision, the state of Ohio will represent the East Division in the 2020 Big Ten Football Championship game against Northwestern.

The conference continues to place great emphasis on the health and safety of our student athletes and remains flexible and connected to its 14 member institutions and partners in these unprecedented times.
