Nike x Ambush NBA, tribute to basketball culture

Yoon Ahn presented a locker room this year in association with Nike and the National Basketball Association (NBA). A sui collection celebrates basketball culture with subtle details drawn from Ambush DNA.

“The project started simply with the desire to make women proud to represent favorite teams,” explains Yoon Ahn. The idea was therefore to balance the basketball culture and performance without compromising the feminine style ”. Drawing on his multidimensional and multidisciplinary expertise, Ahn totally reinvented the outfits of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets. “I immediately thought of all those strong and inspiring women in the 1990s who assumed to wear and divert men’s clothing while trying to add a twist, more feminine shift.”

Yoon Ahn offers a new take and design of the classic basketball warm-up pants by transforming it into a modern and technical pants suitable for the season with a double waistband in contrasting color – The look is completed with matching shorts under the pants to create layering effects. It also revisits the classic aesthetic of the NBA jersey by offering a form-fitting top with long sleeves to balance oversized silhouettes. The reinterpretation of the iconic Nike Dunk by Ambush brings the final touch to the look by drawing inspiration from Japanese culture and cycling where the shoe takes shape in an elongated and raised form.
