Liverpool’s top midfielder Thiago Alcantara finally made a comeback after a long absence. Even though he only played briefly, Thiago put on a brilliant performance.
The Spanish footballer replaced James Milner in Liverpool’s 0-0 draw at Newcastle United’s headquarters in the Premier League on Thursday (31/12/2020). This will only be Thiago’s third appearance for the Reds since signing from Bayern Munich last summer.
The former Barcelona player’s early career with Liverpool was plagued by fitness problems. After contracting the coronavirus, Thiago caught a knee injury at the Merseyside derby in October which forced him out of action for more than two months.

Statistics show Thiago made 29 touches on the ball, and 21 accurate passes, making six long passes that hit the target, and winning each of the five aerial duels, plus two strokes and one interception.
Thiago’s existence could not bring Liverpool a goal until the end of the match. However, the 29-year-old footballer will add to the creativity in midfield that the reigning champions will need in their title race for the remainder of the season.
