Newcastle vs Liverpool: Shaky Comeback Thiago Alcantara

Newcastle

Liverpool’s top midfielder Thiago Alcantara finally made a comeback after a long absence. Even though he only played briefly, Thiago put on a brilliant performance.

The Spanish footballer replaced James Milner in Liverpool’s 0-0 draw at Newcastle United’s headquarters in the Premier League on Thursday (31/12/2020). This will only be Thiago’s third appearance for the Reds since signing from Bayern Munich last summer.

The former Barcelona player’s early career with Liverpool was plagued by fitness problems. After contracting the coronavirus, Thiago caught a knee injury at the Merseyside derby in October which forced him out of action for more than two months.

Anyway, comeback Last night Thiago made fans the Reds uproar. For 17 minutes in action on the St. James’ Park, Thiago made neat passes and touches on the ball that no other Liverpool midfielder could.

“Thiago played for 15 minutes and is really our best outfield player hahaha funny,” tweeted the @bubblxs account on Twitter.

“The only good thing about today’s Liverpool match is seeing Thiago back on the pitch,” said @ArrivedCurtis.

Statistics show Thiago made 29 touches on the ball, and 21 accurate passes, making six long passes that hit the target, and winning each of the five aerial duels, plus two strokes and one interception.

Thiago’s existence could not bring Liverpool a goal until the end of the match. However, the 29-year-old footballer will add to the creativity in midfield that the reigning champions will need in their title race for the remainder of the season.

“We signed Thiago actually because we thought he was a good player, so you can imagine we wanted him in the team. That’s clear. So yes, very nice [dia kembali], he is a super player, “said Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp on the club’s official website.

“I think for 20 minutes, 12 minutes in between we were brilliant and then he felt the intensity, but that’s natural. He has trained twice with the team. It still needs to work physically, still have to get a rhythm.”

Thiago Alcantara will return to defend Liverpool when he visits Southampton’s headquarters in the middle of next week. Liverpool need a win after winning two consecutive draws.
