New coach fixed before Christmas? Track “concretizes”

The search for a coach who should finally stop the historic crash of FC Schalke 04 in the new year is in full swing. A solution could now be found even before the Christmas holidays.

Christian Gross should therefore be a candidate for the coaching chair of FC Schalke 04. The “WAZ” reported on Friday. Now the newspaper is stepping up and revealing that the trail leading to the 66-year-old Swiss is “becoming more concrete”.

Accordingly, it is even “very possible” that sports director Jochen Schneider will present the successor to interim coach Huub Stevens before the Christmas break. The new coach should receive a contract until the end of the season.

Stevens will probably give the representative on the royal blue bench for the last time on Tuesday evening (6:30 p.m.). The Dutchman confirmed on Monday that his coaching license would expire on January 1st. However, the Schalke coach of the century did not completely rule out sticking to it for a few more days. Whether he will renew the license again is his “secret,” says Stevens.

FC Schalke 04 already has a name in mind

Basically, however, it is planned that Stevens will soon take his place on the board of directors of FC Schalke. More than the originally planned two games, Stevens will probably only step in if the search for a coach is delayed. After all, the first league game of the new year is due on January 2nd.

But there are some indications that the miners are about to reach an agreement with a coach. After the disappointing 1-0 defeat against Arminia Bielefeld, Schneider has already stated. You already have a name in your head.

Gross would at least correspond to the profile that Schalke is supposedly looking for. After the rather young coaches Domenico Tedesco, David Wagner and Manuel Baum were at the helm, one should now hope for the necessary stability in the relegation battle from a veteran.

Gross has trained several clubs in Switzerland, Tottenham, VfB Stuttgart and most recently Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia. In May, he ended his career on the sidelines, but did not entirely deny the possibility of a return.
