Marko expects that Red Bull will be able to participate from the first race in 2021

In recent years, Red Bull has had a hand of getting off the starting blocks lean to finally end the season strongly. But to really compete for the championship, you have to fight for the victories right from the first race. After Max Verstappen’s victory in Abu Dhabi, Marko is optimistic that this will be the case in 2021.

“We simply beat Mercedes,” said Marko after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Motorsport.com. “And we had a car at race two in Bahrain that we would have been about as competitive with. So that is a good prospect for next year. ” During the Grand Prix of Sakhir, Verstappen dropped out in the first lap due to a daring move by Charles Leclerc. “Max keeps getting better”, Marko sees. “Only in Turkey was he not patient enough. But otherwise: fantastic. His round in qualifying too. He’s so grown up now. ”

When asked whether he is confident that Red Bull can go for the title next year, the Austria replied: “Yes, that’s why we were so busy developing during the season. Just like Honda. So I think we can come out strong, very strong. It all looks very encouraging. We know where we are and we have received good news from Honda from Japan. Improvement is coming in the motor area. So we should be able to participate right away from the first race. ”

The question remains who will be Verstappen’s teammate next year. Alexander Albon rounded off a fickle season well on Sunday, finishing in fourth place just behind Lewis Hamilton. Meanwhile, it is rumored that the team is almost complete with single Grand Prix winner Sergio Perez, who drove his last race for Racing Point in Abu Dhabi. “It was one of his best races”, said Marko about Albon’s performance. “But we still have to think about it and will make a decision before Christmas.”
