Manchester City managed to close the Champions League group phase with three points. Entertain Marseille on Group C’s last matchday, The Citizens won 3-0.

At the Etihad Stadium, Thursday (10/12/2020) early morning WIB, City’s winning goals were scored by Ferran Torres (48 ‘), Sergio Aguero (77’), and Raheem Sterling (90 ‘).

With this result, City topped the final standings in Group C with 16 points, five wins and a draw. Meanwhile, Marseille sat in the caretaker position with three points.

The course of the match

Riyad Mahrez threatened Marseille’s goal in the 8th minute, but Steve Mandanda blocked his left-footed shot. Four minutes later, Aymeric Laporte’s header also failed to put City ahead.

The visitors try to reply. Valere Germain had a chance in the 14th minute, but his header was also off target. City returned to attack in the 24th minute, but Phil Foden’s long-range shot was still up.

Marseille had another chance in the 32nd minute through Dimitri Payet, but his shot from outside the penalty box was cleared by City goalkeeper Zack Steffen.

In the second half, City managed to get ahead quickly in the 48th minute. Starting from City’s attack on the right, Germain tried to cut the ball, but instead it rolled into the feet of Ferran Torres, who immediately grabbed a shot with a measured shot that Mandanda could not block.
