LPGA: Brooke M. Henderson arrive à court

Canada’s Brooke M. Henderson finished the last LPGA tournament of the year with a top 10, finishing tied for seventh in the CME Group Championship on Sunday in Naples, Fla.

The 23-year-old came within four strokes of the leader after three rounds, but all golfers were dumped by eventual winner, South Korean Jin Young Ko.

Henderson had a short-lived day, playing 71 (-1). It must be said that it could have been worse for the Ontarian, who punctuated her nine to go with three bogeys. She recovered quickly by starting the return journey with four consecutive birdies.

After a bug at 17e pennant, Henderson concluded nicely with a final birdie.

In 2020, the young Canadian did not win a trophy, but she still offered a few appearances in the top 10. The highlight of her year came at the ANA Inspiration tournament in September, when the victory slipped through his fingers in overtime.

She also placed fourth at her first event of the year, in January, the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions.

A big advance for Ko

After a stroke from compatriot Sei Young Kim early in the round on Sunday, Ko left all the other golfers in the back window with five birdies on her last seven holes. The decisive round of 66 (-6) placed her far ahead of those who finished second, Kim (67) and Australia’s Hannah Green (72).

Ko is the only golfer to have had four rounds under the 70s, finishing 270 strokes (-18), five strokes less than her pursuers. She got her hands on her seventh LPGA Tour title and a superb purse of $ 1.1 million, the largest amount ever given in the history of women’s golf.
