L1: Nice 1-4 Lyon (finished)

The draw against Brest (2-2) on Wednesday was just an accident for Olympique Lyonnais. The Rhone club quickly resumed its forward march by winning very logically on the lawn of Nice (4-1) this Saturday on the occasion of the 16th day of Ligue 1.

Against all expectations, it was the Niçois who took control of the ball during the first quarter of an hour. Enterprising, the Aiglons played high and prevented the Lyonnais from developing their game. But the locals were exposed to rapid blocks, like this occasion of Depay who escaped the vigilance of the Nice defense in the area before stumbling on Benitez. A few minutes later, the Nice goalkeeper then had to win in front of Aouar. In a waiting position to spring for the recovery of the ball, the OL players were finally much sharper and more dangerous on their offensives at the start of the match.

While Nice was a little more threatening in front of Lopes’ goal at the approach of half an hour, Nsoki weighed down his team by conceding a penalty following a hazardous tackle on Kadewere in his box. Depay was responsible for giving Lyon the advantage of a beautiful panenka (0-1, 32nd). His eighth goal of the season. This opening of the scoring had hurt the Aiglons who conceded a second goal following an error by Boudaoui from which Kadewere took advantage (0-2, 39th). A second Christmas present before the hour for OL, which however conceded a goal from Gouiri just before the break (1-2, 44th).

The Gym did not really take advantage of this reduction of the gap to pack the meeting back from the locker room. Serene, Lyon was not worried until the hour mark and even widened the gap then on a backlash concluded by Toko Ekambi (1-3, 63rd). The Niçois collapsed after this third goal and Aouar took advantage of a hand fault by Benitez to put OL even more under cover (1-4, 73rd). Nice will not recover.

In total control, despite this small absence on the goal conceded before the break, Lyon made a good copy and recovered after the draw conceded against Brest in the middle of the week. With this success, the Gones temporarily take the lead in the standings, one point ahead of Lille and two ahead of PSG. Lille and Parisians will face each other on Sunday to try to regain the throne from OL.
