Over the years, Kyrie Irving has proven herself to be an alternative thinker. The superstar point guard always accesses social media with some interesting philosophical attitudes, and sometimes tries to claim that the earth is indeed flat. His antics have certainly made him an easy target for the NBA and the media, though he has always vowed not to apologize to himself. Irving specifically had his problems with the media, which he claims will continue to put him out of context.

To fight back against the media, Kyrie decided to do things a little differently during the Brooklyn Nets Media Day this year. Rather than speaking directly to the media, Irving decided to make a statement outlining what his goals are for this season and how excited he is to work with his teammates again.

Per Kyrie:

“COVID-19 has affected us all in many ways, so I pray for the safety and health of our communities at home and abroad. I am very much looking forward to the start of the season and also pray that everyone stays safe and healthy during this trip. Instead of speaking to the media today, I am making this statement to make sure my message is being delivered correctly. I am determined to show up for work every day, ready to have fun, compete, perform and win championships along with my teammates and colleagues in the Nets organization. My goal this season is to let my work on and off the pitch speak for itself. Life hit differently this year and it requires us to move differently. So this is the beginning of that change. “

This season should be a big one for Kyrie and the Nets as they get Kevin Durant back. Irving and Durant want to sweep the Eastern Conference and have a great opportunity to do so. If Kyrie really meant the words in his statement, then the nets will have no problem in their 2021 campaign.
