Jupiler Pro League: third success in a row for Sint-Truiden, which sinks the Beerschot

After attempts by Yuma Suzuki and Facundo Colidio, the Canaries found the loophole in the Rats’ defense shortly before half-time. A corner kick played in two stages allowed Colidio to send a perfect cross on the head of Suzuki, who closely deceived Mike Vanhamel, already scoring the 8th goal of his season (1-0, 42nd).

Very discreet in the first act, the Beerschot, still deprived of Tarik Tissoudali, could have equalized shortly before the hour mark but Raphael Holzhauser took too much away from his recovery with his right foot (59th). In the process, Suzuki, on a good serve from Pol Garcia, came close to a double but Vanhamel was on the path of his head to the small rectangle (66th).

Nice surprise at the start of the season, the Beerschot never seemed able to reverse the trend in this last match of 2020 in D1A. The promoted club has definitely slowed down in recent weeks. It is indeed the 4th defeat in a row for the troops of Hernan Losada. The Antwerp residents are in 7th place with 28 points.

On the side of Sint-Truiden, it’s quite the opposite since the arrival of Peter Maes at the head of the team. After an inaugural defeat against Charleroi, STVV successively defeated Zulte Waregem, Standard and therefore Beerschot. The Trudonnaires, with 20 points, drop from 17th to 14th place.
