Jonas Deichmann: What a German experiences on his triathlon around the world

Jonas Deichmann has been riding his bike around the world for years and he stops various world records. Whether from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, once through Eurasia or from North Cape to Cape Town – no distance has been too far for him so far. Now the native of Stuttgart wants to do a triathlon around the world, including a swim course of around 450 kilometers and a run across the USA. SPIEGEL: Mr. Deichmann, the most important question at the beginning: How many tires have you had to repair in your life?

Deichmann: I stopped counting. When I drove from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, I had 52 punctures over a distance of 23,000 kilometers.

SPIEGEL: How long do you now need to change tires?

Deichmann: It happens very quickly. It’s done in three or four minutes.

SPIEGEL: You are currently in Turkey, the swim course of your triathlon has already been completed. Where will you be on Christmas Eve?
