Jon Rahm joins one of the outstanding groups of WGC Mexico

Until late in the afternoon, the schedules and pairings for the first two rounds of the tournament will not be known. WGC México Championship, but the organization of the first World Championship of 2020 has already revealed the four outstanding groups, which will enjoy the greatest television coverage, and in which Spanish appears Jon Rahm. They are as follows:

OUTSTANDING GROUPS OF THE WGC MEXICO CHAMPIONSHIP

Abraham Ancer (Mexico), Dustin Johnson (United States) and Francesco Molinari (Italy)

· The highest ranked Mexican player in both the FedEx Cup (23rd) and the OWGR (29th) appears in the first outstanding group. It will be Ancer’s third consecutive appearance at the tournament.

With his victory in 2019, DJ became the second player in history after Tiger Woods to win the same WGC at least three times.

Molinari has three victories on the PGA Tour, all of them since the 2017-18 season. The latest, the 2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Carlos Ortiz (Mexico), Jon Rahm (Spain) and Adam Scott (Australia)

· Ortiz is one of the two Mexican players in the top 30 of the FedEx Cup (24th). Born in Guadalajara, it will premiere this week at a WGC.

Jon has three top-10s in his last four appearances of the 2019-20 season (10th at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, 2nd at the Farmers Insurance Open and 9th at the Waste Management Phoenix Open)

· Scott arrives in Mexico after winning last weekend at the Genesis Invitational, where he added his 14th title on the PGA Tour. In his career he has accumulated two victories in the WGC.

Tommy Fleetwood (England), Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) and Gary Woodland (United States)

Fleetwood finished second in this same tournament in 2017 and accumulated two top-10s in the WGC in the last season (7th in the WGC HSBC Champions and 4th in the FedEx St. Jude Invitational)

Reigning FedEx Cup Champion Rory McIlroy has accumulated five consecutive top-fives on the PGA Tour, including victory in the first WGC of the 2019-20 season, the WGC HSBC Champions, the last of 2019.

· Four-time PGA Tour winner, including last year’s US Open, Gary Woodland, has three top-10s this season, with his best finish coming third in the CJ CUP @ NINE BRIDGES.

Marc Leishman (Australia), Hideki Matsuyama (Japan) and Justin Thomas (United States)

· January Farmers Insurance Open winner Leishman is one of three Australians who have won a tournament on the PGA Tour this year (the other two are Adam Scott and Cameron Smith).

Two-time WGC winner Matsuyama is seeking his first PGA Tour victory since the 2017 WGC FedEx St. Jude Invitational.

Justin Thomas, who lost the 2018 WGC Mexico Championship in the playoff, leads the FedEx Cup for the seventh consecutive week.
