Joaquin Cordoba He is 19 years old and the list of his main objectives is to be able to live off the golf, a sport that he reached at eight after a frustrated step by the soccer and that in this 2020 he had him as the protagonist of two tournaments.
Before the pandemic slowed down the competition, the golfer representing the Cordovan Federation was consecrated team champion at the La Cumbre International and was second in the Córdoba Jockey Club “El Federal” Open, both in the team event and in the individual.
“I came to this sport because my family was always close to golf. I used to play soccer, I got frustrated and started playing golf in the background, but it ended up being the love of my life and something I intend never to give up. He left me many values and teachings on how to learn to live with your same thoughts ”, says the player who always had dreams of winning tournaments but with the passage of time he learned that his goal is to be able to live from the sport he practices and that allowed him to close 2019 in the first place of the M18 ranking.
Last year, Córdoba, who represents Villa María Golf Club and has his father Mariano as coach, finished in seventh place in the team competition at the Ecuador International and became champion in Villa María. His father marked his career but his family was also always a point of support for his development as an athlete.
“My family supports me every day and, despite everything, at the time of training there is always a ‘come on, get up’ that raises your spirits when you are not well,” says the golfer who finished high school and is currently studying English .
Córdoba admits that his main quality is effort and remarks that sport allowed him, in addition to living with his thoughts, to be able to analyze them, modify them if necessary and change the way he acts.
“It is a sport that although you play alone, you have a partner with whom you compete and at the same time train; that on the court he is a rival but in the practice zone he is a partner who gives you tips, helps you with the rules of etiquette and to be a better player and person ”, closes the golfer who dreams of being able to perform as a professional player.
