Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini will play doubles together in Antalya

If the pandemic allows, there will be little time left for the new tennis season to begin. Players are already working hard this off-season to better prepare for the tournaments that are mostly focused on Australia.

The tournaments begin January 7-13 in Antalya (Turkey) and Delray Beach (USA) so players can get back on the tennis court and prepare for the Australian Open 2021 (scheduled February 8-21).

The participation of Italian players on the Turkish hard courts will be very high: Matteo Berrettini, Jannik Sinner, Fabio Fognini, Marco Cecchinato, Salvatore Caruso and Stefano Travaglia will take part in the competition.

It is pointless to deny that Sinner is very curious considering how the young Italian ended the 2020 competition season, with the success at the Sofia ATP.

Berrettini and Sinner together in doubles in Turkey

Depending on the growth in all aspects, especially in the network game, Jannik will team up with Matteo in doubles in Antalya.

An opportunity for both of them that could have future implications for the Davis Cup and the Olympic Cup if the duo worked well together. Born in 2001, the player’s difficulties are well known as he approaches the net.

This experience will also be very useful in improving the ability to vary the serve in terms of range and trajectory. A situation that is really interesting when you know the qualities of Matteo in this basic principle and the excellent game on the net.

Other Italians who will play doubles include: Salvatore Caruso, who will team up with Andrea Vavassori, while Stefano Travaglia will share the pitch with the eccentric French Benoit Paire.

The goals of the two Italian tennis players are clear: go as far as possible in the most important tournaments, consolidate the ranking and improve it, especially for Sinner, who has very high margins for improvement.

It will be important for Berrettini to avoid the injury problem, an element that influenced him a lot last season.
