At first glance, time is on the Rockets’ favor in this soap opera. Aware that their star, James Harden, has wanted to leave the franchise for several weeks, the leaders remain hopeful of keeping him for the coming season. They even tried everything on the transfer market to make him change his mind.
The arrivals of John Wall or DeMarcus Cousins are intended to show him that their title ambitions still remain intact. The two recruits, too, hinted that they would be delighted to evolve alongside the Bearded. But the latest reports ofESPN on the situation prove that these attempts did indeed fail.

Ramona Shelburne and ESPN report that the arrival of John Wall has not changed the positions of All-NBA full-back James Harden, who is not interested in forming a new partnership. The franchise star continues to push the Houston Rockets into a trade.
In other words, whatever leader Houston might have recruited this offseason, Harden’s initial inclinations would have won out over his curiosity to share the backcourt with a new teammate. A serious blow for J-Wall, who recently felt that his association with the MVP 2018 could make sparks.
Therefore, the next return to training of The Beard – which should take place this Monday according to the confidences of Stephen Silas – has nothing of a clue on a potential reconciliation between the franchise and its leader. The latter still dreams of escape, and impatiently awaits a competing team make the offer that will propel him away from Texas.
John Wall’s flattery will therefore not have got the better of James Harden, whose main objective is to leave Houston as quickly as possible. Another serious backlash for the Rockets.
