A new political gesture for the athlete. Footballer Antoine Griezmann has broken off his partnership with the Chinese brand Huawei, in order to defend the rights of the Uyghur community, he announced on Instagram on Thursday.
“Following strong suspicions that the Huawei company has contributed to the development of a ‘Uyghur alert’ thanks to facial recognition software, I am announcing that I am putting an immediate end to my partnership linking me to this company,” explains the player on his account.
In his message, Antoine Griezmann also “invites” the telephone brand “to take concrete actions as quickly as possible to condemn this mass repression and to use his influence to contribute to the respect of human and women’s rights within of the society “. The Barcelona forward had a brand ambassador contract since 2017.
